This course was very engaging, putting people at ease right from the start. The group worked very well as a team, due to your skills in facilitation and recognising each persons individual 'traits' or personality and managing accordingly. There was an emphasis on rewarding effort for individual progress – everyone started from somewhere different but all ended up improving in areas they wanted and needed to. I felt respected, welcomed and comfortable in the group environment. This allowed me to speak about my reasons for being there and also speak about myself and my situation. The strongest attraction for me was the encouragement and the "you can do it attitude" from Geoff and Penny that made me feel like I could do it. The course must have worked because I was complimented and acknowledged for my clear speaking more than once while at another event. The public speaking course was an excellent program, covering a range of forums that you might find yourself speaking at. The course also provided great tips and techniques for dealing with nerves, thinking on your feet, impromptu speaking and how to get your message across so the audience pays attention. I particularly found the sessions on how to effectively answer questions excellent. The materials provided are a great resource and I still refer to them before speaking in public.
